On the Home Stretch of 2007!

Bursa is coming out strong to welcome 2008. It is running as if there is no tomorrow to create new highs every trading day! GLCs are blue chip companies are playing safe sex-window dressing before the year goes off.

Smashing time on Boxing Day for Window-dressing

Miss Singapore 2007 is no doubt a smasher.

Bursa also had a its share of smashing time today, window dressing on Boxing Day. Random walk window dressing took place which accounts for only a marginal CI increase of 0.78 points to 1424.02. Gainers romped home beating losers 490 to 320 in a very long time. Volume was at 632 million shares worth RM 1,01 billion.

Leaders among gainers were Batu Kawan shaping up well to tack on 40 sen. Also adding 40 sen each are Aeon, Dutch Lady and LCL. Losers saw the likes of Tanjong losing 50 sen along with Digi. MISC sank 30 sen while KFC slipped 20 sen.

The portfolio was wobbly. B J Sports Toto managed a 5 sen increase to RM5.10 while KHSB added 2 sen to 88 sen. Both RCE and Welli were better 0.5 sen at 83.5 sen and 57.5 sen. Genting and Metronic were unchanged at RM7.75 and 15 sen respectively. Resorts World lost 2 sen to RM3.76.

Window Dressing all the way

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to window dress all the way!
Ho ho ho ho!

And so as we hear the strains of the Christmas carol, the GLCs and the blue-chip stalwarts bumped up the prices of their counters, laughing all the way.

The CI was mat rempit up some 16.35 points to 1403.56 points. Gainers beat losers 472 to 344. Volume was at 636 million shares worth RM1.4 billion.

Going Up on Window Dressing

CI zoomed up 11.76 points at the noon close to 1398.97. Losers were ahead of gainers 334 to 270. Volume thinned tremendously to only 284 million shares worth RM592 million.

Among gainers were KLK upping 50 sen;VADS which rose 30 sen,KFC rising 25 sen and Gamuda rolling on to gain 24 sen. Losers were headed by Equine-LA which lost 31 sen;Zelan which took down 15 sen;Aeon Cr which slipped 12 sen and BJLand which slided 10 sen.

Bursa Goes Zombie!

So the year is ending and bursa will be sloping south, the way it is going these days. The afternoon session was hardly a mirror of the morning. It is even worse. Unless magic happens in the final minutes and not shit. The great Aeon Credit showed Japanese might at equities-the one last hero of bursa for the year.

The CI fell some 13.16 points to 1410.56. Gainers were walloped by losers 276 to 541. Volume was 729 million shares worth RM1.53 billion. Market signals are still intact.

Among gainers were definitely Aeon Credit which garnered a gain of 52 sen; AnJoo-WR which scored 30 sen;TAHPS which rose 20 sen and Gamuda which sprung up 14 sen. Chief among losers were good ole Bursa committing suicide by losing RM1.10 sen, Parkson which took a haircut of 45 sen, KFC which lost an aromatic dollop of 35 sen and IOIProp which subsided 30 sen.

The portfolio followed the general mood-no go and no good. Genting was down 5 sen to RM7.85 but Resorts was better 6 sen to RM3.76. KHSB added 0.5 sen to 86.5 but RCE fell by a sen to 84 sen. Metronic was standstill at 15.5 sen. BJ Sports Toto, in spite of heavy buying, closed at its overnight level of RM5.20. Welli was off by 0.5 sen to 55 sen.

We may not have a favourable Dow tonight.

Still Going Under

Gainers were overtaken by losers 225 to 428. Volume was a miserable 311 million shares worth RM630 million. This is indicative that big blues are not being played and the likelihood is volume is spurred by Aeon Credit.

among gainers was Aeon Credit which catapulted up 54 sen; Anjoo-WR which notched up 30 sen,Asiatic which topped up 20 sen and KNM which rose 15 sen. Losers saw the likes of Bursa losing 50 sen; DFZ dropping 48 sen; Far East slipping 30 sen and Asiafile tanking 20 sen.

Gainers were obviously Aeon Credit which rose 74 sen, Jobs and BJLand which glided up 25 sen each and Panamy which rose 20 sen. Losers included dropping 50 sen,NestleBursa sliding 40 sen and Petgas and Pantech dipping 30 sen each.

Fantastic Bursa!

A potential foreign purchase of some 10% of its shares at a speculative price of RM20 pushed the Bursa counter way up high. It added RM1.30. Overall CI was down by 8.91 points leveling the CI to 1425.13. Losers knocked off gainers 523 to 246. Volume was just above the 0.5 billion line(579 million shares) worth RM1.33 billion.

BAT flew high to tack on RM1.50 while Bursa added RM1.30. IOIProp moved up 30 sen while Nestle glided up 25 sen. Leading the losers were IOICorp which lost 40 sen; Quality which slid 35 sen; MMCCorp slumped 35 sen while Maybank tanked 30 sen.

The portfolio was completely paralysed. If not for the 5 sen gain of BJ Sports Toto to RM5.10 and the 0.5 sen gain of Welli to 57.5 sen, it would have drowned.
Metronic was sleeping at its overnight level of 16 sen while all the rest collapsed like sink-holes. Resorts lost 4 sen to RM3.70 while KHSB skidded and fell 3.5 sen to 87.5 sen. Similarly, RCE went south losing 2 sen to 86 sen.Genting lost 5 sen to RM7.60

Bursar Slows Down a Wee Bit.

So the Friday blues set in for Bursa. After bumping up and flying the blue chips to ISS, it dropped down and suffered the blues. CI went down 6.35 points to 1434.04 - Bursa is still one tough nut! Gainers were trounced by losers 285 to 554. Number of shares traded was back to normal at 843 million-pre-Sime Darby re-listing level. Value is still good at RM1.72 billion.

Among gainers, Parkson score a gain of 35 sen;IOICorp and Quality rose 30 sen and Hexagon added 25 sen. Losers were weighed down by Nestle which lost RM5.75 while BAT and KLK tanked 50 sen each. YTL dropped 25 sen.

Spicing up the Market

The Dow is most resilient, for four days it was up and up. This is good for Bursa as Dow has moved 175 points. A positive Dow on a Friday will neutralise wanton profit taking.

The bursa has similarly been up since Monday on the day Sime Darby re-listed. Government linked GLCs and funds have been pushing up the market to new highs very day.

So what is the possibility of the second liners and speculative penny stocks gaining today as most kaputed in the afternoon yesterday?

Like the joys in the reunion of the Spice Girls above, we hope there is a windfall of ang pows for punters on Bursa today!

Nestle shot up to the galaxy adding RM6.50;SPSetia added 35 sen with YTL and Bursa adding 30 sen each. Losers were led by Digi, losing 75 sen;BHIC and BAT sliding 25 sen. Meanwhile, LDaun toppled 21 sen.

The portfolio was hardly performing. Except for BJ Sports Toto which glided up 10 sen to RM5.15, the rest were non-performers. Metronic was rooting still at 16.5 sen while KHSB slipped 1.5 sen. RCE lost 2.5 sen to 88.5 sen. Welli added 0.5 sen to 57 sen and Resorts slumped 4 sen to 3.72. Genting was off 5 sen to RM7.65.

A good day for the GLCs but for all others, it was a dull trading day.

Heave Ho! GLCs are Marching!

Another jack (jerk) off by GLCs and we are in CI nirvana! The CI was mat rempit again by some 14.96 points to 1442.73, a new high yet again. Viva AAB! Elections fever is on, my friends. But alas! Only choice blue chips went up- the government kind. Some second liners and speculative stocks which galloped are unfortunately back in stable. Only risks and exposure- no gains. Kala woleh!

Gainers overtook losers 436 to 302. Volume is good at 662 million worth some RM994 million. Bull run is intact!

Among gainers,KLK rose 40 sen along with Bursa. SPSetia and YTL both increased 35 sen each. Losing huge was Digi collapsing RM1.05; Nestle tanking 25 sen while Ann Joo and KNM slipped 20 sen each.

The portfolio was fair. Genting edged up 10 sen to RM7.80 while the others were at their overnights or down. Resorts World was steady at RM3.76;Metronic at 16.5 sen;KHSB at 94.5 sen and BJ Sports Toto at RM5.05. Both Welli and RCE lost 0.5 sen to 56 sen and 90.5 sen.

I expect the CI to slide in the afternoon but end in positive territory.
