Bursa in Fatigue!

Try as it may, try as it might, the Dow rules and Bursa kowtows. At the lunch close, CI managed a feeble up-tick of 1.79 points moving up to 1385.87. Gainers were outran by losers 188 to 369. Volume were real low at 362 million shares worth some RM788 million. Some GLC action but insufficient to do the CI any real good.

Sime put on 20 sen along with PBBank and Biport while F&N was 15 sen better. BKawan lost 40 sen and IJM slid 30 sen. Elsewhere, MPI decreased 25 sen and Commerz lost 20 sen.

The portfolio was mixed with a losing bias. Genting added 5 sen to RM7.30 and Resorts World improved 8 sen to RM3.84.
Metronic and KHSB were unchanged at 13 sen and 83 sen but BJ Sports Toto weakened by 5 sen to RM5.10. RCE lost a sen to 77.5 sen and Welli started scuba again losing 2.5 sen to 54 sen.

Could be another dull afternoon watching paint drying and grass growing. Watching the two birds is more fun!

Silly Pussy-footing at Bursar

As Asian markets zoomed south, Bursa pussy footed and lost a marginal 4.42 points thanks to GLCs taking position to prop up the CI. The CI ended at 1384.08 with gainers losing to losers 243 to 548. Volume was small at 781 million shares worth RM1.83 billion shares;denoting blue chip purchases.

DFZ-PC shot up to gain 72 sen with Digi adding 50 sen and BKawan improving 40 sen. PPerdana moved up 38 sen. Nestle lost 50 sen while Tanjong slipped and gave up 40 sen along with Bursa. LDaun descended 38 sen.

Quite a sorry sight at Bursa this day.

Follow Up Poser on Bursa

Murder on the Rebounce!

Smart alecs! They thought they were smart enough to play the Bursa! Well, looks like you win some but lose plenty. The morning rebound was insufficiently elastic to bring gains to punters even though it ended noon on positive territory.

The CI barely made it with a miserable 4.09 points gain to 1384.63. Gainers saw sunlight today beating losers 322 to 282. Volume was sadly down at 384 million shares worth some RM673 million. Discouraging signs of approaching bears.

The board showed T Ocean leading with a 30 sen gain. WCT followed with a fillip of 25 sen and Aeon moved up 20 sen along with CIMA. Petgas lost 20 sen and reduced its price by 15 sen. BJLandBLD Plant slid 14 sen while Kwantas gave back 12 sen.

The portfolio was mixed. Genting managed a 10 sen gain to RM7.45 while Resorts World moved up by an equal margin to RM3.72. RCE and KHSB both moved up 1.5 sen each to 79.5 sen and 85 sen respectively. BJ Sports Toto was unchanged at RM5.10 but Welli declined 1.5 sen to 54.5 sen. Elsewhere, slow coach Metronic lost 0.5 sen to 13 sen. Metronic is one disaster counter to be in this portfolio! Do not have this in your portfolio until it shows bigger profits from their China operations!

Afternoon may see some buying interest.

Down, Down,Down!

Newtonian principle on cue. Down! down Down! So, in line with world markets, discipline followed in Bursa. The CI retracted 21.22 points to 1439.49. Losers laughed out loud at 605 to gainers meek response of 199. Volume stood at a dismal 900 million shares worth RM2.01 billion.

BHIC was ahead of the gainers notching up 25 sen. QSR was behind with an 18 sen gain while BJLand took in 15 sen. Unknown KBB added 11 sen. Plantation giants KLK,PPB,BKawan and Sime Darby all lost 40 sen each. GLCs are on the run!

The portfolio was equally dismal. KHSB added 0.5 sen to 98.5 sen. The rest surrendered with losses. Genting and BJ Sports Toto each lost 10 sen to RM7.70 and RM5.25 respectively. Resorts was hammered down 8 sen to RM3.78.RCE slipped a sen to 82.5 while Metronic and Welli both lost 0.5 sen to 14 sen and 54.5 sen accordingly.

Breakdown Bursa!

The Dow went down another 300 points and kaboom! Bursa went down 20.37 points at noon to finish at 1440.34. Losers said adios to gainers 663 to 79. Volume shrunk to 440 million worth RM901 million.

Hardly traded shares emerged as gainers. QSR clinched 26 sen;TMCLife sprouted a 17 sen gain;KBB moved up 11 sen and NexNews improved 9 sen. Losers were plantation giants such as KLK crashing out 40 sen along with PPB and IOIProp. SOP sobbed behind with a loss of 35 sen.

The portfolio was one crying shame. Genting and Metronic were unchanegd at RM7.75 and 14.5 sen. BJ Sports Toto lost its pants and fell 15 sen to RM5.15;
Resorts also went south losing 4 sen to RM3.82.Welli decreased 2 sen to 53 sen while RCE was a sen off at 82.5 sen.KHSB lost a marginal 0.5 sen to 97.5 sen

Some More Bloodshed on Mat Rempit Counters!

Walla! The killing fields continued today, backswiping those GLC counters. Rasa pedih now! The CI tumbled like tumbleweeds in the American Prairies of Montana, courtesy of Wall Street. If fell by another 20.68 points flooring itself to 1432.98. Losers were kings today with 614 maroon counters. Only 143 counters got away with marginal gains. Volume was 537 million shares worth RM1.01 billion.

The gainers included AEON which rose 20 sen;Stemlife which sprouted to get 20 sen on its price;MMCCorp which tacked on 15 sen and EonCap which climbed 10 sen. Losers saw Digi in pole position losing 90 sen;BAT blowing smokes off 75 sen;Nestle sliding 75 sen and PPB decreasing 50 sen.

The portfolio was dull. Genting added 10 sen to RM7.75 and Metronic added 0.5 sen to 15 sen. Resorts screwed up and gave back 6 sen to RM3.80. BJ Sports Toto threw out 5 sen to RM5.05 while KHSB took a beating and lost 5 sen to 94.5 sen.Elsewhere, RCE coughed out a loss of 2.5 sen to 82.5 and Welli went underneath a sen to 54 sen.

It will likely be the Red Sea phenomenon again in the afternoon session. Where are you, Moses?

Red Tide!

Gravity-what goes up must come down-the degree may differ and the timing too.

So along with the world markets, Bursa succumbed to heavy profit taking on the blue chips that they have jacked-up for last 15 days. The CI fell some 44.58 points to 1461.13. The losers rode proudly like a horde of locusts sweeping red blood over 755 counters. There were only 66 gainers.

The counters that gained ground today included MISC which sailed up with a gain of 65 sen,Kramat which rose 20 sen;Khind which quietly tacked on 11 sen and which showed a growth of 7 sen. TMCLifeSime Darby broke down and lost 70 sen. Commerce tumbled 60 sen;Parkson
was squeezed down 55 sen and also IOIProp slided 50 sen.

The portfolio saw the shadow of Genghis Khan and shaded blood as well. BJ Sports Toto lost the tote by 20 sen to
RM5.15,Genting slipped 15 sen to RM7.70; Resorts World was off by 10 sen to RM3.92 while RCE and Welli moved down 2 sen each to 84 sen and 54 sen respectively. KHSB went down 1.5 sen to 99.5 sen. Strangely, Metronic could show a gain of 0.5 sen to move up to 15.5 sen.

Today is a day of indecision for many. Those who dare to come in via bargain hunting of blue chips may make it tomorrow if there is no longer any more sell down. However, if Wall Street continue to hemorrhage, woe betide them!

Bursa Stronghold

With Alamo tenacity, Bursa stood its ground and finished up 1.33 points to 1505.71. Losers were way ahead of gainers 622 to 218. volume traded was 1.14 billion shares worth RM2.51 billion.

Among gainers were BAT flying sky-high with a gain of RM1.25. IOIProp followed tacking on 80 sen while Gamuda and IOICorp both improved 20 sen each. Losers were led by Bursa
collapsing virtually with a loss of 90 sen. PPB,KLK and Hexagon lost 30 sen each.

The portfolio was again lousy. Except for BJ Sports Toto and Welli which rose 5 sen and 2 sen to RM5.35 and 56 sen and Genting and Resorts which stood unchanged at RM7.85 and RM4.02, the rest succumbed to profit taking. KHSB fell 4 sen to RM1.01 and RCE zoomed down 2 .5 sen to 86 sen. Elsewhere, Metronic weakened a sen too to 15 sen.

Pipe Piper beckons!

And I though Bursa was invincible! But fell it did in the afternoon session. Likely overseas fund sold down a bit as the CI went up too fast thanks to those silly antics of the GLCs. The CI got the toppler effect and fell 9.18 points to 1507.04. There were 630 sellers and only 222 gainers. Volume continued to be alright at 1.04 billion worth RM2.53 billion.

Equine-LA headed the gainers taking in 41 sen. SWKPlant was next with a gain of 32 sen,UnitedPlant climbed 30 sen while Commerz made a cool gain of 30 sen. Fronting the losers were Digi which again lost big time by RM1.20. Kulim slipped 45 sen while Sime Darby slided 40 sen. Equine also scrapped 22 sen.

The portfolio was murder! Genting got truncated by 10 sen to RM7.85, Resorts World was sold down by 12 sen to RM4.02,Welli slipped 2.5 sen to 54 sen and
RCE was off 0.5 sen to 88.5 sen. Metronic and BJ Sports Toto was unchanged at 16 sen and RM5.30 accordingly while KHSB added 2 sen to RM1.05.

So, Bursa has its Achilles Heels, after all.

Lethargy

After a gung-ho buying spree yesterday and this morning, droopy eyed Bursa is on siesta mode now. most prices have come down and there is little bargain hunting going on. In less than half an hour, market will close for the Awal Muharam holiday tomorrow and will resume on Friday.

We all know that the last trading days were blue-chip driven. As the buyers were GLCs and fund managers, there would not likely be panic sellers nor bargain hunters to drive prices down. So the CI is at best, artificial and is no indicator of market forces per se. Moreover, the RM40 minimum brokerage charges continue to be a dampener for lower priced stocks and these are not moving in tandem with their gilded cousins.

At the close, the CI rose 1.92 points to 1491.66. There were 506 gainers compared to 340 losers. Volume of shares traded was 1.64 billion worth RM3.36 billion. The
gainers included Chin Teck which rose 50 sen and Bursa, Sime Darby and United Plant which rose 30 sen each. Commerz lost 40 sen and Gamuda, Boustead and SAAG gave up 20 sen each.

The portfolio was as dull. Genting added 10 sen to RM7.85; Resorts improved 10 sen to RM4.14; Metronic tacked on a sen to 16.5 sen. Elsewhere KHSB declined 2 sen to RM1.01 while RCE was unchanged at 90 sen. Welli was down 0.5 sen to 56.5 sen BJ Sports Toto lost 15 sen to RM5.15.

Happy holidays.

Tight Trading Range

So the Dow could not rock kebal Bursa which lost only 2.4 points to 1433.28 at noon close. So not many people are worried with such a fall on Wall Street. Losers overtook gainers 455 to 151 with volume tagged at 287 million shares worth RM532 million.

Gainers were SAAG upping 45 sen;Cepco climbing 34 sen and IOICorp moving up 20 sen along with Dutch Lady. Losers were Digi being knocked down 40 sen;
Bursa sliding 30 sen;Parkson off-loading 30 sen and Pelikan writing off 20 sen.

Portfolio was below par. Except Welli which managed a token 0.5 sen, the rest took a tumble generally. Genting lost 15 sen to RM7.75 while BJ Sports Toto slid by 5 sen to RM5.15. Resorts fell 6 sen to RM3.96 while RCE and KHSB both got mowed down by 0.5 sen to 83.5 sen and 89 sen respectively. Metronic was unchanged at 15 sen.

It will be a tight market this afternoon.

Gravitational Pull!

'Tis the 9th day of Christmas and Santarina is still around. The Christmas joy and New Year spirit may still be in the air in the pubs, hotels and supermarkets but not at Bursar! The CI started off with a big fall of 9.35 points to 1435.68. Volume was unexpectedly high in spite of the imposition of the minimal RM40 per transaction fee. Volume was at 592 million shares worth some RM1.08 billion. Losers over-rode gainers 456 to 285.

Steel makers led the gainers. Southern Steel took in 41 sen;SAAG ramped up 35 sen, Annjoo climbed 37 sen while Kinstel was up 24 sen. Top losers included
Cepco off 56 sen and SimeDarby,Commerz and Dutch Lady down by 30 sen each. So much for window dressing!

Portfolio had two clear winners today. BJ Sports Toto attracted fresh buying to gain 15 sen to RM5.20 and Resorts World continued receiving support to rise 14 sen to RM4.02. Genting was quiet at RM7.90 and RCE; at 84 sen. Elsewhere, KHSB lost 2 sen to 89.5 sen and Metronic lost 0.5 sen to 15 sen. Welli slid 3.5 sen to 53.5 sen.

If Dow is supportive tonight, we may go into positive mode tomorrow.

Smashing time on Boxing Day for Window-dressing

Miss Singapore 2007 is no doubt a smasher.

Bursa also had a its share of smashing time today, window dressing on Boxing Day. Random walk window dressing took place which accounts for only a marginal CI increase of 0.78 points to 1424.02. Gainers romped home beating losers 490 to 320 in a very long time. Volume was at 632 million shares worth RM 1,01 billion.

Leaders among gainers were Batu Kawan shaping up well to tack on 40 sen. Also adding 40 sen each are Aeon, Dutch Lady and LCL. Losers saw the likes of Tanjong losing 50 sen along with Digi. MISC sank 30 sen while KFC slipped 20 sen.

The portfolio was wobbly. B J Sports Toto managed a 5 sen increase to RM5.10 while KHSB added 2 sen to 88 sen. Both RCE and Welli were better 0.5 sen at 83.5 sen and 57.5 sen. Genting and Metronic were unchanged at RM7.75 and 15 sen respectively. Resorts World lost 2 sen to RM3.76.

Tomorrow may be a better day for the other counters. As the RM 40 guillotine remains so, CI should fell towards the end of the year.

The portfolio was in the worst doldrums in a long, long time.
BJ Sports Toto declined 15 sen to RM5.00. while Genting lost 5 sen to RM7.55. Resorts declined 6 sen to RM3.60 while RCE was off 1.5 sen to 81.5 sen. KHSB went down as well by a sen to 84.5 sen. Metronic was unchanged at 15.5 sen.Elsewhere,Welli lost 0.5 sen to 60 sen.

Fantastic Bursa!

A potential foreign purchase of some 10% of its shares at a speculative price of RM20 pushed the Bursa counter way up high. It added RM1.30. Overall CI was down by 8.91 points leveling the CI to 1425.13. Losers knocked off gainers 523 to 246. Volume was just above the 0.5 billion line(579 million shares) worth RM1.33 billion.

The portfolio was completely paralysed. If not for the 5 sen gain of BJ Sports Toto to RM5.10 and the 0.5 sen gain of Welli to 57.5 sen, it would have drowned.
Metronic was sleeping at its overnight level of 16 sen while all the rest collapsed like sink-holes. Resorts lost 4 sen to RM3.70 while KHSB skidded and fell 3.5 sen to 87.5 sen. Similarly, RCE went south losing 2 sen to 86 sen.Genting lost 5 sen to RM7.60
