Gulliver's Travails

The Bursa had the last kick for the year riding on the Sime Darby re-listing. It shone like a beacon of hope for 2008. But fears abound. Is it a flash in the pan? Are those who went in, super heroes or donkey idiots?

CI shot up to 1396.98 rising 22.66 points. Losers still beat gainers 469 to 339. Volume of shares traded was 970 million worth RM2.6 billion. Mixed signals and the higher volumes is due to Sime Darby shares.

Among gainers, Sime Darby was up RM2.10; while Digi rose RM1.85.
KNM increased 50 sen, Guiness taking a fall of 40 sen along with Shell and Pharma overdosing by 40 sen as well.

Portfolio took a shot to the body with a loss of 25 sen for Genting. It went down to RM7.90. KHSB also gravitated, slipping 3 sen to 87 sen along with RCE and BJ sports Toto, losing 2 sen to 84.5 sen and RM4.98. Welli rose 2.5 sen to 58 sen on renewed interest while Metronic is mummified at 16 sen.

Like the picture above, it is a lonely place out there in Bursa. Except for a few situationals the market is actually on the slide.

It would be interesting to see how Sime Darby will perform this Monday.
