But Smile You Must

Citigroup has downgraded Bursa saying it has little upside and will only become attractive if it fell. But smile, we must. A little warning to the GLCs which were downgraded such as UEM and Commerce. It also recommended a buy on Bursa only at the RM12.00 price region.

We did have a yoyo type of day but Bursa ended in green territory upping the CI to 1413.63 by 0.86 points. Losers pelted gainers 443 to 401. Volume is still at a steady 1.43 billion worth RM1.99 billion. Parkson led the gainers with a 50 sen gain. Dutch Lady and Digi also scored 50 sen gains each. Aeon upped 45 sen. Losing were Bursa, dropping some 90 sen;KLK by 70 sen,IOICorp slided 35 sen while SPSetia rolled off 20 sen.

Genting sparkled up the portfolio with a 15 sen gain to RM8.25 and RCE increased 6 sen to RM1.00. BJ Sports Toto improved 5 sen to RM5.10 while Welli improved 2.5 sen to 93 sen. KHSB, however, dropped 0.5 sen to 97.5 sen. Meanwhile, Metronic lost most of its intra-day gains to finish a sen better at 18 sen. Resorts was unchanged at RM3.84.

Let us see how Dow will perform tonight.

Bursa Tumbleweeds

Dow went down and so did tali barut Bursa. It got kelentong some 8.93 points to level down the CI to 1403.86, a whistle-stop away from the psychological level of 1400. Losers overwhelmed gainers 479 to 284. Volume shrunk a bit to 736 million shares worth RM 847 million. Overall, we see blue chips that have moved up the last two days falling like tenpins. Situationals like RCE,Welli and Metronic were better this morning.

Losers big time were Bursa the bellwether, dropping 80 sen. IOICorp also declined 35 sen. Fashionista outfit,LCL took a fall on the runway to close 35 sen down while Tanjong was also beaten to the tote closing 30 sen down. Dutch Lady saw renewed buying to close up 50 sen to RM12.70. Very impressive! Parkson and Digi also trended upwards by 40 sen each while BHIC continued its gains, this time to 30 sen.

The portfolio was so much better today on the background of a listless day. Genting stopped its fall to rise 5 sen to RM8.15. Resorts also gained 2 sen to RM3.86. KHSB, however, fall by 0.5 sen to 97.5 sen. Meanwhile, Metronic moved up on heavy volume to clinch a 1.5 sen gain to 18.5 sen while Welli was buoyed by news of its takeover of Gardenia Thailand. It rose 4 sen to 94.5 sen. The medal of valour should be given to RCE which catapulted 7 sen to RM1.10. BJ Sports Toto was at its overnight level of RM5.05.

Afternoon session is expected to see consolidation as most investors are sidelined to await the possible rate cut by the Feds.

Market Rumours

There are just too much market rumours. Too much market fears. Many are shunning the market because of the new height attained by Bursa. They see a big fall coming. However, the volume of shares traded continue to be large. CI went up a mere 1.17 points to 1412.79 but volume was good at 1.8 billion shares worth RM2.43 billion.

There were however, more losers than gainers. On the board, the reds were 523 versus the greens at 324. Leading the pack of gainers once more was BHIC rising 65 sen. Boustead the mothershare also went up by 40 sen. IOICorp sprung to life lifting itself higher by 40 sen as well. Meanwhile, MMCCorp also moved up by 35 sen. Among losers were hardly traded Kramat which lost 90 sen. Digi followed next slipping 50 sen, LCL suffered from gravity and lost 35 sen. Genting lost the best and fell down the valley with a loss of 30 sen.

The portfolio was an utter shame and sham as well. lousy shadows it has casted for the last 14 days at best. Genting went to Holland, losing 30 sen, Resorts slinked away with a 4 sen loss to RM3.84 while BJ Sports Toto reamined unchanged at RM5.05. Welli was at its overnight level of 90.5 sen but RCE was better at 0.5 sen to 94 sen. KHSB dropped 3 sen to 98 sen and Metronic fell a sen to 17 sen. Perusing the trading pattern today, I see a good support buying trend in Welli and Metronic. They have plateaued for a long time. A rise is imminent.

So what did we hear about the general elections? Kit Siang even have the date. Must have read some oolong tea leaves.

Otherwise it would be like the picture up there, telling you how rumours could have started. So watch where you go especially with the fairer sex working in the vicinity. David Copperfield did not have much luck, though!

l
Pulling back..............

Well, the Dow could not help as profit takers slam-dunked Genting to RM8.05, causing a loss of 35 sen to the counter. Such disrespect to the dead founder! They also sold out Resorts 4 sen down to RM3.84. Gaming stock BJ Sports Toto also took a hit losing 5 sen. That is the state of affairs when Bursar closed for lunch.

CI retreated 3.82 points to end at 1407.80. Volume of traded shares was 1.01 billion worth a good RM1.22 billion. Loser outstripped gainers 540 to 275. among gainers, BHIC took in 65 sen,Boustead tacked on 40 sen, Nestle added 30 sen and IGB quietly sneak in to gain 22 sen.

The portfolio performed dismally with Genting taking everyone to the laundry. We have seen the fate of both Resorts and BJ Sports Toto. Welli and RCE were in positive territory. Welli put on 1.5 sen on renewed interest and RCE saw fresh buying to move up 2.5 sen to 96 sen. KHSB
went up and down but fell a sen at the close to RM1.00. Metronic was moribund at 18 sen.

I believe there will be little buying interest in the afternoon session since Asian markets are unfavourable.

Steaming along..........

So the magic 1400 threshold has been breached yesterday and Bursa steamed along. The bellwether Bursa counter went to the ISS with a RM1.60 gain. What a whopper! So is Jarah on top. She sure is one good looker! Hope Bursa continues to look as provocative as Jarah.

CI scaled to a new height of 1411.62, adding a fabulous double-digit gain of 13.27 points. Gainers ran ahead of losers 646 to 281. Volume was 2.1 billion worth RM2.57 billion. Rancak! Gainers included Bursa, Muhibbah,KLK
and Commerce. The last three added 50 sen each. Losers were sparse, losing little. They included. Suncity, MISC, RHBCap and GPacket, all losing between 15-17 sen.

Portfolio was stable with some slight gains registered. Genting,Metronic,Welli and BJ Sports Toto traded unchanged at their overnight levels of RM8.40;18 sen,90.5 sen;RM5.05. Meanwhile RCE added half a sen to 93.5 sen while KHSB spurted up 1.5 sen to RM1.101 on renewed buying support. Resorts clinched an 8 sen gain to RM3.88.

A good day, by my reckoning.

Beyond 1400

Like the battle-cry of Buzz Lightyear-To Infinity and Beyond; Bursar crossed the psychological 1400 level. By noon, buying took the CI to 1406.16,up 7.81 points. It was a blue-chip driven run as most speculative stocks fell by the way receded to their overnight levels.

Bursa shot through the RM15.00 mark adding 90 sen while Asiatic rose 45 sen. KLK was not far behind with a 40 sen gain while Landmarks saw fresh buying support to rise 32 sen. Losing were Parkson dropping 35 sen, PPB; 20 sen, RHBCap dropping 20 sen and Suncity sliding 15 sen.

The portfolio was unimpressive. Genting rose 5 sen to RM8.45 while Resorts topped up 8 sen to RM3.88. KHSB also improved 1.5 sen to 99.5 sen while RCE added a sen to 93 sen. BJ SportsToto and Metronic were unchanged at RM5.50 and 18 sen respectively. Welli tumbled 1.5 sen to 89 sen.

Will the afternoon see a fresh wave of buying support to buoy the speculatives?

As we watch, let us be charmed by the delectable Halle Berry.

A Bridge Too Far?

Another 1.65 points and we would be on level 1400. That is how near we are to this level. We have broken new ground to a new height today. Bravo, Bursa! If Dow can take on the bearish oil news head-on without losing confidence and ends positive tonight, we should be seeing Olympic-class pole-vaulting over 1400 in the morning trading hours of 29 Oct. This will be the start of a higher phase of the bull run on Bursa!

A double-digit gain of 20.08 points placed the CI on a new height of 1398.35. So near and yet so far! There were 663 gainers running ahead of 222 losers. The gainers were top-notched corporate brands. LCL catapulted up RM1.10; Cepco rose 94 sen, Parkson took in 70 sen, SPSetia recovered 65 sen and Bursa leaped 60 sen. Losers included TNB being roiled by the new oil price of US$ 92 per barrel. It rolled by 20 sen. Kulim sunk 15 sen,Choo Bee slipped 15 sen and Magna returned 12 sen to sender.

The shadow portfolio. Genting continued to lead, bringing home another 20 sen to RM8.40. KHSB collected 3 sen to 98 sen while Resorts recovered 2 sen to RM3.80. BJ Sports Toto lose 5 sen to RM5.05 while Welli dropped a sen to 90.5 sen. Metronic, meanwhile attracted heavy buying action today; touching an intra-day high of 19.5 sen. It closed a sen higher at 18 sen. RCE added 0.5 sen to 92 sen.

If Dow does an Academy award performance tonight, Bursa should sprint like a cheetah on Monday.

Bursar Does its Magic!

For David Copperfield, it may be the end of the rope for him if he cannot make the charges of sexual misconduct against him disappear soon. But Bursa, surprisingly did some magic in the afternoon session. Though the volume of shares and its value is about the same, gainers beat losers to give the market a wide berth for trading tomorrow. There were 504 gainers compared to 319 losers. CI climbed up to heaven, adding 18.44 points to level off at 1378.27.

Those ascending stocks included Digi which added 50 sen,KLK gaining 50 sen as well and LCL gaining 40 sen.Lion Div climbed 35 sen. Losers were Pharma dropping 32 sen, Tanjong going down 30 sen and Aeon, 20 sen. E&O Property slided 17 sen.

The shadow portfolio saw celestial heaven. Genting moved up another 25 sen to RM8.20, saluting the passing of its founder. Resorts climbed back 8 sen to 3.78 after a bout of selling pressure. Welli gathered strength at about 3 pm to move up 4 sen to 91.5 sen while BJ Sports Toto rose to RM5.05 on renewed buying interest. KHSB meanwhile moved up marginally by 0.5 sen to 95 sen. Sadly Metronic and RCE could not budged from their overnight positions of 17.5 sen and 91.5 sen.

Dow should be okay tonight. If it can move into positive territory convincingly, Bursa should get back its Midas touch and spin more magic. David Copperfield, make way for the new magician on the block- Bursa! And do leave Claudia Schiffer behind for us as well!

No Resolution!

Every good story has an exposition to start with followed by a rising action that touches a climax. Then it has a falling action phase that leads to the resolution of issues. Bursa - where are we? I have not even seen good rising action. Apa macam?

Today, lackadaisical is the word for Bursa- Laid back and sikit mabuk...... CI upped sikit again to 1366. Points gained: 6.21. Volume shrunk a bit too to 689 million shares worth 866 million ringgits. Losers pukul gainers 367 to 318.

Going up is Parkson with another 55 sen. KLK followed with 40 sen, Muhibbah tambah 30 sen and Equine galloped away with 25 sen. Pharma led the losers dropping 32 sen, Aeon followed with a 30 sen loss. Kossan and Tanjong respectively lost 20 sen each.

The portfolio was mixed. Genting added 10 sen to RM8.05. BJ Sports Toto and Metronic were overnight at RM4.98 and 17.5 sen. Welli was unchanged too at 87.5 sen. RCE, however, dropped 1.5 sen to 90 sen while KHSB dropped 0.5 sen to 94 sen. Meanwhile Resorts managed a 2 sen gain to RM3.72.

I expect an afternoon of side-to-side trading.

When can we see Sunny side-up,Bursa?

Bursa bikin malu-lah. When Dow go down, it go down and kaput while European and Asian markets rallied. Case in point today. Kaputing, sputtering and lembeking Afternoon session like a funeral wake. CI only got 2.5 points up-lor... CI up so little bit-Tamil says, .kunjoo....!. Gainers kena telanjang oleh losers 454 to 389. Volume continues to improve, though. RM1.86 billion worth for 1.59 billion shares traded.

Parkson is shooting for the stars, gaining 80 sen.Dutch Lady also moved up 50 sen. TMCLife ascended 30 sen and so did Digi. Asiatic climbed 30 sen. Losers were KLK,Nestle and Commerz which lost 30 sen each while MPI lost 25 sen.

The portfolio succumbed to selling pressure in the afternoon. Metronic
and RCE both added 0.5 sen to 17.5 and 91.5 sen respectively while Genting maintained its gain of 40 sen to RM7.95. Going down 1.5 sen were Welli to 87.5 sen and KHSB which slided to 94.5 sen. Resorts weakened further by 4 sen to RM3.70 on selling pressure. Meanwhile BJ Sports Toto held on to its overnight level of RM4.98.

The Dow will be the determinant tonight. If it moves up, then Bursa may follow. If not, expect some more lembeking at Bursa tomorrow.

Impatient,Impatient,Impatient

Which do you think is a more catchy saying?

Waiting for the grass to grow? or

Waiting for wet paint to dry?

Bursa is just like that. Patience is running thin in the viewers' galleries. ''Impatient'' is the word on everyone's mind. Market just scrap by with a 3.99 points increase. CI went up to 1361.32. Gainers beat loses 402 to 313. Volume is growing at 937 million shares worth 960 million. Among gainers,Digi climbed 70 sen.Parkson and Dutch Lady both upped 50 sen while SPSetia finally saw buying support to move up 35 sen. Losers saw IJM losing 30 sen, Bumiputra-Commerce saw disfavour and lost 20 sen. Also losing 20 sen was Nestle while TaAnn dropped 15 sen.

Portfolio was better. Genting shot up 40 sen to RM7.95; RCE moved up 2 sen to 93 sen while KHSB got a sen gain to 97 sen. Welli was stable adding 0.5 sen to 89 sen while BJ Sports Toto and Metronic were unchanged at RM4.98 and 17 sen. Somehow, Resorts lost 2 sen on selling pressure to end up at RM3.72.

I see the afternoon as listless. Unless some huge funds come in.................

Fat hopes!!!

Bursar-No Ecstasy,Only Agony!

A no-hoper day. Most prices retreated on the close except for speculative stock JAKS and the pushing up of the Bursa bellwether stock. Very dull trading. CI moved sluggishly to 1357.33, showing a gain of a paltry 6.52 points. Gainers overwhelmed losers 639 to 222. Volume was at 1.47 billion worth RM1.478 billion. Gainers were led by super Bursa, up 90 sen. Digi followed with a 70 sen gain. KLK moved up 50 sen and Magna by a 48 sen gain. Losers were TM losing 20 sen, Widetec also 20 sen and Aeon and Boxpak by 15 sen each.

Portfolio was mixed with Genting losing another 10sen to RM7.55 sen. Resorts closed unchanged at RM3.74 while BJ Sports Toto upped 6 sen to RM4.98. KHSB and RCE both moved up 2.5 sen to 96 sen and 91 sen respectively. Meanwhile Metronic and Welli were unchanged at 17 sen and 89 sen.

All in all, one lousy trading day.

Mat Lembik Bursa!

Penelope Cruz. Bursa is not like Cruz. Today it is one miserable, feeble old man. Cannot bounce like a rubber ball. Just like his US brother-Mat Salleh, Bursa is Mat Lembik. Can shake hands-lah.

CI added a ominous 4.44 points to 1355.25. In Cantonese, 444 means die!die!die!. 500 winners came out against 212 losers. Volume was 803 million worth RM 662 million. Still very good.

Gainers were Digi which soared 80 sen;Bursa jumped 50 sen, Magna notched up a 40 sen gain while Muhibbah tacked on 30 sen. These are the losers. Telekom Malaysia and MPI both dropped 30 sen each. The Store slipped 26 sen while hardly ever heard RCI scaled down 13 sen.

Now, a look at the portfolio. Sometimes, frightened even to look at the shadows of the shadow portfolio.Genting climbed 5 sen to RM7.70 while Resorts World improved 2 sen to RM3.76. BJ Sports Toto also tacked on 2 sen to RM4.94. RCE was better 1.5 sen to 90 sen while KHSB gained a sen to 94.5 sen and Welli improved 0.5 sen to 89.5 sen. Metronic, meanwhile like Rip, is fast asleep at its overnight price of 17 sen.

Trading was subdued and moving from side to side. Most counters failed even to go back to its Friday price level. A lot of sustained buying is required to do that. Do we have that gumption?

Looking for the Double Dip

Yes, Bursa fell. However, not as much as I wanted it to. The double dip and a loss of more than 50 points which I was hoping will happen, did not come to pass. The range bound trading with the minimal losses of 5 sen and less makes it unattractive to take a position today. If Dow should plummet once more tonight then tomorrow may be hunting season.

CI lost 19.36 points to 1350.81 with losers kicking butts 784 to 136 gainers. Volume was 1.65 billion worth RM1.63 billion. Good showing that the bull run remains intact. As expected, Bursa, the bellwether stock took a pounding, losing 70 sen.BAT lost 50 sen while Kossan shaved off 48 sen. Meanwhile KLK lost 40 sen. Gainers were Digi which announced a ringgit dividend. It closed up 20 sen. VADS, MPI and Gamuda also topped up 15 sen.

My portfolio was a basket case. Genting shaved off 15 sen to RM7.65 while Welli, KHSB and RCE all lost 3.5 sen to 89 sen;93.5 sen and 88.5 sen respectively. Resorts World took a marginal loss of 2 sen to RM3.74 while Metronic lost 0.5 sen to 17 sen. BJ sports Toto was the only joy giver adding 2 sen to RM4.92.

"Tomorrow is another day," so says Scarlett in Gone with the Wind. Not for the tree up there. It will be mowed down for Patrick Lim's Equine project.

We do not know what is in store for us tomorrow especially with this sub-prime fiasco in the US. If Dow goes down on the floor tonight, get ready to punt.

On the losing side, IOIProp lost 50 sen, Maybank slided 40 sen; PPBOil slipped 40 sen as well and Petgas was down with 20 sen loss.

Portfolio went to Holland. Genting downed 15 sen to RM7.65. Welli and KHSB dropped 4 sen each to 88.5 sen and 93 sen each. RCE lost 3 sen to 89 sen while Resorts went down 2 sen to RM3.74. Meanwhile Metronic was off 0.5 sen to 17 sen and BJ Sports Toto lost 2 sen to RM4.88. Very steady counter.

Let us see whether the market will hold in the afternoon or go for a double dip.

Fruitless Friday

The most boring trading week ever. Short 4 day trading influenced by a guillotined-biased Dow. So we thought we have buried sub-prime. But No.....! It rears its hydra head again. CI went down 6.15 points to 1370.17. Volume was a little off at 1.37 billion worth RM1.4 billion. Losers were everywhere outnumbering gainers 600 to 269.

Gaining today were
Kossan from nowhere shooting up to rise 78 sen. UMW rolled along with a 30 sen gain while Hap Seng tossed up for a 20 sen gain. Amway got in to gain 15 sen. Screwing up big time was bellwether Bursa, sinking 60 sen, Parkson losing 55 sen while Gamuda slided 40 sen. Petdag slipped 25 sen.

Portfolio was absolutely in the dumps.
Genting was clobbered pretty badly all day and lost 10 sen. Resorts and KHSB both gave up 4 sen to RM3.76 and 97 sen each. Metronic fell a sen to 17.5 sen while Welli lost 0.5 sen to 92.5 sen. Remaining unchanged was BJ Sports Toto at RM4.90. RCE was down 1.5 sen to 92 sen. Really one awful day.

Let us see how Dow will perform tonight. Hopeful.Hopeful.

Meanwhile, best to rest the week-end.

In Treacherous Waters!

When Pamela Barnes married into the Ewing family, she was treading in treacherous waters, especially with the conniving JR dogging her every step. Dow is our JR Ewing now, creating obstacles every now and then with this silly sub-prime issue. Anyway, it is hurting investors world-wide. More need not be said of their agonies.

Bursa was a real lame dog today. Performance was sub-zero. The glacial movement of stocks was boring-and lull lullabies upon us. CI declined 1.68 points to 1374.64. Losers bullied gainers 514 to 236. Volume was a tad off at 734 million shares worth a respectable RM 666 million. Topping the gainers was UBB, the counter that came in from the cold. It added 25 sen. Commerz showed its financial prowess gaining 20 sen while Magna notched up 16 sen. PDZ upped 15 sen. Construction giant, Gamuda declined 45 sen while Bursa slided 30 sen. Meanwhile, Parkson slipped 30 sen and Suria lost its sunshine to set for the morning session with a 16 sen loss.

Portfolio was thoroughly spent. Except for BJ Sports Toto which stayed at its overnight level, all the other six became clowns and nincompoops, losing their pants. Genting dropped 10 sen to RM7.80 while Resorts gave away two sen to RM3.78. Losing 0.5 sen each were Metronic at 18 sen, Welli at 92 sen and RCE at 93 sen.KHSB performed dismally to lose its shirt as well dropping 1.5 sen to 99.5 sen.

Like Victoria Principal above, let us continue to fight the JR Ewing Dow and its selling pressure potential.

I expect a quiet afternoon with shares going sideways.

Marginal Mundane Bursa

Market weakened in the afternoon. CI went up a mere 1.93 points lifting the CI to 1376.32.Miserable performance.Gainers managed to trounced losers for the first time in many days; 429 to 411. Volume remains strong at 1.7 billion shares worth a cool RM2.01 billion. EONCap continued to retain its gain of 40 sen. Digi added 30 sen while IOIProp got a 30 sen gain. Air Asia, out of the blues, soared to put on 30 sen. Leading the losers were Gamuda, losing a serious 60 sen;KNM slipping 30 sen,SPSetia dropping a further 30 sen and Parkson konking off 20 sen.

Portfolio was yukky. Metronic managed to keep its nose above water adding a sen to 18.5 sen on a big volume of 3,329,100 shares. Something is brewing and it is not espresso coffee. Genting lost 10 sen to RM7.90. RCE dropped 0.5 sen to 93.5 sen. Resorts was at its overnight level of RM3.80 while Welli lost a sen to 93 sen.
KHSB stood like the Colossus of Rhodes, at its overnight level of RM1.01 after yoyoing to an intraday spiking high of RM1.04. Something is happening here too. BJ Sports Toto lost 2 sen to RM4.90 on possible bargain hunting or Treasury buy-in.

Dow should go up today. It will help put bursa on the starting block to 1400 again. Otherwise, Bursa will continue swaying to the limborock-low now.... lower now....

Bursa Stupor Lapok!

Stampede and rampage on Bursa? Pipe dream. After a fierce kungfu kick, I thought Bursa, the black belt karate king and ninja is back in action. Instead it is in a drunken stupor, on stale overnight grog. Not all the Viagra in the world can put this Humpty Dumpty Grumpy together again.

CI shrugged off the non-perforing Dow to put on a paltry 4.2 points, pushing the CI to 1378.59. There were 387 losers kicking ass over 332 gainers. Butt kick them...yeah!!! Volume was at 989 million shares worth RM934 million. Fall-out from India's Sensex? If so, be very careful...... remember 1997......kala woolek!

Leading the gainers were situational EONCap up 45 sen. IOIProp and IOICorp followed, increasing 40 sen and 20 sen respectively. Digi propped itself up by 20 sen. And now the losers-Gamuda dropped 35 sen;followed by KNM slipping 20 sen. SPSetia is still dropping like a chunk of rock;this time by another 20 sen while Parkson lost 15 sen.

Portfolio stocks were also on grog since Bursa saw little buying on speculative stocks this morning. Welli fell 0.5 sen to 93.5 sen. It went up and then took a free fall. Resorts added 2 sen to RM3.82. It moved up, then down and now has leveled off. RCE was off 0.5 sen to 93.5 . It traded steady to better. Metronic lost 0.5 sen to 17 sen. Slow slide all morning. BJ Sports Toto lost 2 sen to RM4.90 sen. Bargain hunting, I suppose. KHSB was down to steadier at its overnight level of RM1.01.Renewed buying is likely reason for the support. Meanwhile Genting upped itself 5 sen to RM8.05.

I expect yoyo players in the afternoon session until the fund managers come back from their Hari Raya holidays in the reverse balik kampung this week-end.

Defensive Kungfu

So, what do you know. Bursa kicked back to finish on greener pastures. By almost 4.30 PM, it was all at sea, totally lost. Then, somehow along the way, it got back its compass to survive and wham, it leaped back into positive territory.

CI added 2.01 points to close at 1374.39. Good show! Gainers smacked the losers 444 to 409. Volume was increasingly good at 1.7 billion shares totaling RM2.2 billion-a ballooning and evident fact of foreign funds involvement. Keep up the show, boys!

Gainers were led by cellular operator Digi adding 50 sen, Bursa followed closely with a 50 sen gain while Petdag and KFC were close at their heels with a 35 sen gain each. Losers were CIMA, dropping 35 sen and WCT and Parkson losing 30 sen each. MAS went down 20 sen.

A look at the portfolio. Nothing to shout about but very much better than its intra-day lows. Resorts World recovered to add 2 sen to RM3.80 and Welli added 0.5 sen to 94 sen.BJ Sports Toto(RM4.92),RCE(94 sen),KHSB(RM1.01) and
Metronic (17.5 sen) all ended at their overnight levels. Goliath size Genting improved to close off 5 sen at RM8.00.

If Dow tonight ends up, the stage will be set for a likely big bull stampede tomorrow.

Let the fun begins!

No Momentum Buying Seen

Like a chicken which have lost its head, Bursa could go nowhere. So down it went into the sands of defeat. CI lost 4.62 points to go below 1370 points (1367.76). Losers once again hung the losers 445 to 288. What continues to assure is the volume traded and the good value. Some 830 million shares changed hands with a value of RM1.06 billion. No momentum jackhammer buying seen. No rush of adrenalin flow.

Gainers saw the likes of BAT which went up a miserable 50 sen. Should not be used as an indicator henceforth unless it is more than 50 sen. KFC added an aromatic gain of 40 sen while Bursa continue adding gains, this time by another 40 sen. Dutch Lady sweetened its counter by adding 30 sen. On the losing end sat Parkson the store losing 45 sen,WCT giving up 25 sen while DFZ continues to drop, this time down the chute by 22 sen. IJM dropped 20 sen.

The portfolio was lame. RCE added a sen to 95 sen. Welli was unchanged at 93.5 sen;KHSB fell by a sen to RM1.00 while BJ Sports Toto dropped 4 sen to RM4.88. Resorts dropped 2 sen to RM3.76 while heavyweight Genting dumped 15 sen to RM7.90 on market re-rating that its real value is RM7.60 sen. Meanwhile Metronic lost 0.5 sen to 17 sen.

The market is like that young lady stepping out of the inferno. Will it improve in the afternoon session? Are we gonna burn??

Lousy day so far, right?

Dow is Down.Will Bursar Follow?

The Dow is fickle just like the American uncertain presence in Iraq. Bursar may play Hamlet today. "To be or not to be?".

Likelihood is it will fell in the rush hour to get out when market opens at 9 AM. It will yoyo a bit before 12 noon and then it will settle down for a stabilisation phase. As Dow has been down for two days, the likelihood is it will taper off tonight and we should see a good Dow on Thursday night. Till then, Bursa will be on its own. If the ringgit continues to be strong, it means Bursa will rise to the occasion.

We will likely be influenced by local factors today.

Meanwhile, like the pretty maiden above, keep smiling and start punting.

Fringe Play

Waiting for 1400? Look what happened to the chap above. Bursa continues to disappoint.

There was no favourable change in the afternoon session. CI went down by 2.87 points to 1372.38. Volume is good at 1.54 billion shares worth RM2.4 billion. Losers lynched gainers 547 to 339.Among gainers was Bursa, the bellwether stock, putting on 60 sen. Must be driven by futures trading. If that is so, it is good for the general market. KLK played a yoyo game, down one day, up the next. So today it saw gains of a good 60 sen. VADS went up 40 sen and so did Gamuda. On the other end, BAT lost 50 sen, nothing great for the heavyweight. Commerz lost some 40 sen and Tanjong lost an equal amount. Aeon slided 30 sen.

Portfolio was as dismal. RCE lost some of its morning gains to end up 3.5 sen to 94 sen. At its overnight levels was Genting at RM8.05. The rest lost money-lah. BJ Sports Toto, Resorts World and KHSB all dropped 4 sen each to RM4.92;RM3.78 and RM1.01 sen. Welli dropped 2 sen to 93.5 sen while Metronic eased 0.5 sen to 27.5 sen.

There is some noticeable buying in Welli and Metronic. So watch these two counters closely. They may just hop, skip and jump in the next dew days.

EREHWON

The Dow has upbraided the uptrend of Bursar. A pause, bringing the CI down by a minuscule 1.9 points to 1381.25. 404 losers trounced 329 gainers in a rather dull market after Hari Raya Aidil Fitri. Volume was at 924 million-very good with a value of RM1.169 billion. The bull-run is still intact.

Gainers included BAT upping 50 sen,Gamuda rolling along with a gain of 40 sen;KLK moving up 40 sen and AZRB notching up a similar margin of gain. Losers strangely were the Synergy Drive stalwart, Sime which lost 30 sen, gaming counter Tanjong with an equivalent loss. Commerz slided 30 sen as well and SPSetia is still dropping, this time by another 25 sen. Funds selling.

The portfolio saw vigorous action in RCE moving it up 7.5 sen to 98 sen. All the rest kaputed or stayed in bed. Genting and KHSB were still in their pajamas at overnight prices of RM8.05 and RM1.05. BJ Sports Toto tumbled 4 sen to RM4.92. There were some huge lots being traded. Resorts lost 2 sen to RM3.80 and both Welli and Metronic fell 0.5 sen to 95 sen and 17.5 sen respectively.

Both the market and the shadow portfolio are at erehwoN-Nowhere.

However, Bursa is resilient and should move up in the afternoon session if fund managers start buying into the Synergy Drive-linked counters, plantation and finance stocks.

Casino Bursa

The last day for trading before the Muslims celebrate Aidil Fitri. Blue chips that were supported the last four days fell under selling pressure. Obviously the fund managers have finally balik kampung.

However, the buying pressure for speculative stocks could not be abated. They were jumping along with Jumping Jaks Flash. KHSB also lompat berjoli-joli welcoming the First of Shawal. Looking at JAKS and the buying of CWs, we can't help but to think Bursa has become a casino!

All Asian markets bleed rich blood all day. Bursa was not spared. Dow has done its dastardly act again. We are suckers through and through. And that is the way of the world. So, we must play the game. When Wild,Wild West Dow is up, we watch our counters and go in to buy at the first opportunity. If we make some money, get out pronto. Do it and you will prosper by and by. Check your greed, though.

CI was down 8.36 points to 1375.25. Losers pukul and belasah the gainers 442 to 371. However, the saving grace-volume of shares continue to be good. Some 1,.4 billion shares tukar tangan. Value was RM1.87 billion. Good show. Bull run still intact.

Rarely traded Kramat stole the limelight topping up 80 sen. KLK followed with a 50 sen gain and Digi also moved up 50 sen. Puncak Niaga, supposedly to benefit from the amalgamation of water management in Selangor gushed up 30 sen. Leading the losers were BAT off a ringgit, TM dropping 40 sen, Tenaga losing 20 sen and KNM; 10 sen.

The portfolio performed as bad. Surviving the blood-bath was KHSB which saw renewed buying interest. It shot up 5.5 sen to RM1.04 . Metronic upped a sen to 18 sen. The rest were bloody losers (pun intended). Genting virtually lost its head by 15 sen to RM8.00. Some early buying support and then in the evening, all the gains had diasappeared. Quo vadis, Genting? Resorts also went down badly, collapsing 10 sen to RM3.80. BJ sports Toto meanwhile, slipped 2 sen to RM4.96 while Welli was unwell and infirmed and lost a sen to 96 sen. Meanwhile RCE lost 0.5 sen to 91 sen.

Man can propose,God will dispose. How true.

The market will be closed for three days berturut-turut. Until Tuesday next, its Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, Maaf Zahir and Batin.

Semoga Tuhan memanjang dan melanjutkan usia semua penganutnya yang berbudiman!

Bursa Bulldog Stance!

Dow could be down. Raya could be around the corner. But the Bursa goes on.No rest. Bull dog tenacity, the buying goes unabated especially for JAKS. Punters and day-traders have jaked the price to RM1.36 for a 17 sen gain. Who would have thought JAKS could actually sprint? Early indicators show foreign funds presence.

For the portfolio, I am dropping off JAKS and AMDB. They have shown resilience and may have some upside but I think I should concentrate on Welli, RCE, KHSB and Resorts World, Welli may just jump into space. RCE will go up as Kuwaiti Finance Holdings have RHB to deal with now. So the way is open for RCE to take over MBSB. KHSB has a lot of promise as a boutique developer and is involved in the water-play. Resorts also has potential now that Malaysia is overweighted by Standard and Poor.

CI upped 6.7 points to 1383.61.Volume traded was good again at RM1.498 billion worth RM1.983 billion. There were 436 gainers compared to 386 losers. Gainers included Digi which added RM1.10; BAT flying high with a 75 sen gain;KLK ramming up 40 sen and Highland and Lowland gliding upwards by 35 sen. Losers saw IOIProp dropping 50 sen; Commerz slipping 40 sen, Muhibbah downloading 35 sen and Bursa dropping 30 sen.

The portfolio was better with BJ Sports Toto adding 16 sen to RM4.98; Genting adding 15 sen to RM8.15 and Resorts World notching up 8 sen to RM3.90. Meanwhile AMDB upped 2 sen while JAKS ran away with a King's ransom of 17 sen to move up to a all time high of RM1.36. RCE plodded up slowly by a sen to 91.5 sen and Welli was better off by 0.5 sen to 97 sen. Meanwhile, flash in the pan counter Metronic disappointedly retreated and lost 1.5 sen to 17.5 sen. What a shame! Syndicate 's ploy? Fool's Gold? Finally we have our potential KHSB upping itself 2.5 sen to 98.5 sen.

The picture above tells the story of JAKS and KPS. The last time KPS was the runaway escargot. This time it is JAKS out of the box!

Tomorrow is another day. I think the rally will continue if Dow helps tonight.
