New Kid on the Block

I was delighted that Bursa has come of age. Let us have a coming out ball for this new kid of the block. It did not follow the idiosyncrasies of Wall Street and now has a life of its own; maintaining the Hari Raya run-up. Syabas, Yusli.

Trepidation is the right word to use to describe the cautionary attitude of investors and punters today. Gains on CI was double digit at one time but now it is hovering at the 9 point level. News on the Syabas share buyover did not spark any appreciable buying support into the water-play trio,KPS-KHSB-JAKS but I think it is a matter of time before the game starts. Let us look out for it.

The CI was up by 7.79 points to 1376.51. Gainers and losers were about even;392 to 368.Volume of shares that changed hands was 947 million worth some RM1.2 billion. Market breadth continues to be good to sustain a bull market.

Gainers was true blue Sime Darby rising 40 sen. Close at its heel was Bursa, the barometer, notching up also 40 sen. Guthrie and MAS also moved up 20 sen each. Hektar lost 35 sen;Digi came down 30 sen;Tanjong slumped 20 sen and Lion Div fell 20 sen.

Let us look at the portfolio stocks. Resorts was good this morning moving up 8 sen to RM4.06. Genting was up 5 sen to RM8.45 while AMDB saw fresh buying interest to push it up 2 sen to 42 sen. KHSB put on 2 sen to RM1.02 while JAKS put on a sen to RM1.01. Welli dropped 9 sen to RM1.05

We will analyse the market situation when market close at noon.
