A Red Letter Day

What is she whispering? Plantation stocks? Yes, she is echoing Citigroup's recommendation to buy into plantation stocks because of the upside potential for palm oil prices. I guess the foreign fund managers are taking that recommendation seriously-hook, line and sinker seeing how our lovely lady is mouthing it so amorously above.

The CI went to a delightful level of 1405.49; thanks to a 16.38 points increase. There were 398 gainers compared to 333 losers. Volume was 753 million shares worth a fantastic 939 ringgits.

Leading the charge for the gainers were
KLK upping a ringgit. IOICorp followed with a 60 sen gain. Bursa topped up 40 sen while Tanjong rose by 30 sen. TM lost 20 sen and MPI by 15 sen. Nestle and Naim lost a miserly 10 sen each.

In spite of the good CI, the portfolio did not match up to it. KHSB did it again by moving up 7 sen to RM1.09 while Resorts rise 2 sen to RM3.80. RCE was at 94.5 sen, its overnight level while Welli and Metronic each dropped 0.5 sen to 87 sen and 17 sen. BJ Sports Toto lost 2 sen to RM4.96 while Genting was off by 5 sen to RM8.15.

I expect the CI to moderate to a 8 to 10 points overall daily increase when afternoon close as profit taking sets in ahead of the Festival of Lights.
